Terms of use
Terms for using Velto
These terms cover the Velto app for Mac and this website. By downloading or using Velto, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use Velto.
Last updated 19 October 2026
1. Your licence
We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use Velto on Macs you own or control, for personal or work use. Velto is free during its beta. If we introduce paid plans, we'll tell you before anything is charged, and you'll choose whether to continue.
2. What stays ours, and what's yours
Velto, its name, design and code belong to Velto and are protected by law. You may not copy, modify, resell, reverse engineer or redistribute Velto, except where the law allows it regardless of these terms.
Everything you dictate, write and record with Velto is yours. It stays on your Mac (see the Privacy policy), and we claim no rights to it.
3. Open models and third-party software
Velto's engines are built on open models and libraries, including NVIDIA Parakeet (CC BY 4.0), OpenAI Whisper (MIT), Qwen3 by Alibaba Qwen (Apache 2.0), FluidAudio (Apache 2.0), whisper.cpp and llama.cpp (MIT). They are used under their own licences, listed in the app under Engines, Credits. Those licences apply to those components.
4. Using Velto responsibly
- Follow the law where you are, including recording and consent laws when taking meeting notes. Tell people on a call that you're taking notes.
- Don't use Velto to harm, harass or deceive others, or to break the rules of the apps you use it in.
- Check what Velto types before you send it. Speech recognition and writing models make mistakes, including with names, numbers and meaning.
5. Beta and changes
Velto is in beta. Features may change, appear or go away, and we may update these terms. When we do, we'll change the date above; using Velto after that means you accept the updated terms.
6. No warranty
Velto is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and accuracy of transcriptions, summaries or follow-ups. Keep your own copy of anything important.
7. Limits on liability
To the extent the law allows, Velto and its makers are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses, or for loss of data, profits or business, arising from your use of Velto. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for Velto in the 12 months before the claim, which during the free beta is zero. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
8. Ending
You can stop using Velto at any time by deleting it. We may end your licence if you break these terms. Sections 2, 6, 7 and 9 continue after that.
9. Law and contact
These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts of India have jurisdiction, unless the law where you live gives you rights that can't be taken away. Questions: [contact email].
